Hexafectant®
(EPA Reg No. 82859-2-104424/EPA Est No. 82859-FL-1)
Over a decade ago, studies began on the ability of cell lysis buffers to disrupt cell membranes, rupturing them and releasing the cell contents. Cell lysis buffers are important to research and diagnostics because they allow for protein extraction from the cells while maintaining pH and protecting cellular proteins from degradation. As the work advanced, the cell lysis buffers were demonstrating efficacy against numerous microorganisms. These cell lysis buffers quickly emerged as a potentially safe, low toxic and a green category for disinfectants and sanitizers. Extensive studies of various formulations were performed by independent laboratories. Those studies demonstrated effective microorganism kill rates sufficient for EPA registration of the formulations as sanitizers and disinfectants. They also demonstrated stable chemistry and low toxicity. In fact, the companies patented formulations achieved EPA’s lowest toxicity rating. Hence, Hexafectant® was created and offered to make the world a safer place.
